“I didn’t.” Talyn sighed, looking around the room. The girl was looking at her with pity and Talyn did not like that. “I was forced into this. Family thing.” Her eyes touched each of the ornaments that decorated the library. They were all beautiful, magically so.
“You’re family… they’ve sentenced you to…” Vacca asked, a little horrified.
“My family believe in me…” Talyn sighed, smiling. It felt good to get it off her chest. “And I guess I want to do this… I’ll be protecting my brother… and I love my brother… if I don’t die.”
“If you don’t die.” Vacca repeated.
“I’m sorry, You came to me with a problem and I’ve been blathering.” Talyn said, looking back at Vacca, though not close enough to see the pity in her eyes.
“I just wanted a friend… it’s lonely. In my home land everyone knew everyone… there was never a moment alone…” her eyes changed in a moment from pity to sadness. She was home sick.
Talyn smiled, “Well you’ve found one.” She laughed. “For six more days at least.”
Vacca didn’t find it funny. She placed a hand on Talyn’s, “We’ll find a way through it.” she said, “I swear.”
The two girls smiled at one another.
That same black sky and red moon once again greeted Talyn’s eyes. She must have fallen asleep at the library table studying. Vacca was a nice girl, but apparently not that bright. Talyn needed to be awake, she needed to work, she needed-
“Merra, Dev han selle eh feng Omah trill ack. Porr trih goreh nare dev fagestor… Talyn Falorn” The voice shouted over her once again. But this time… something felt different, almost as if she understood a little better. Hello, My time among the great Ones ends soon. And you shall be my salvation… Talyn Falorn.
Talyn really had started to understand this demonic voice in her dreams. “Ach so trih ca fages de… Da kall trih lorra… Da kall trih ca begh ehay pera… Reh… Da begh casl trih vi barela he dev lerrol… wellecks.” She understood the odd word in the new sentence… but she did not know what most of it meant. All she could understand were simple words like ‘You’ and ‘My’. The red moon began to glow even brighter and then suddenly… everything was black. |
