“Apparently not, and call me by my name, im only seven years older than you, it makes me feel like an old man.”
“You should lay off of Simms, he helps out whenever they need him to, and he has his wife to think about, as well as his reputation.” Tom said. “He does odd jobs around the cat house, when you can’t get there, he’s a decent guy, just because he doesn’t want his wife shamed by the fact he often visits a brothel instead of going to her is no reason for you to start a shoot out.”
“Like anyone’s going to care, Tom... but I see your point.” Alex conceded and stood up. “I guess I should have a word with this preacher. Where can I find him?”
Tom looked out the closest window and eyed a small hotel opposite the brothel. “He’s staying at the ‘Twenty One Inn’. Opposite the brothel. I guess he likes ogling the ladies inside, while preaching that its a house of satan when he’s outside.”
“Or it gives him a good sight of everyone coming out so he can target them later.” Alex replied as he pulled on his gun belt. He made sure there were bullets in his trusty black and white Walker Colt revolver and holstered it.
The Sheriff pushed his arms into his coat as he donned it and waved out the long duster’s back and lapel, making sure the gold star was perfectly secured on his chest before stepping around his desk and heading to the door.

“So you’re Alex colt.” The preacher said, standing from his bed and looking down his nose at the Sheriff. His attendants, a small group of the most thuggish, outlaw looking men of god the twenty-five year old man of the law had ever seen, stood beside him, holding a gun each. Apparently men of the cloth weren’t as peace loving as they used to be. “The Sheriff.” The preacher smiled, maliciously, as if he had just said something funny, yet offensive at the same time.
“I reckon I might be... seeing as I just told you my name and the fact that I’m the Sheriff of this township.” Alex muttered.
“The Sheriff of a cesspit of Satan.” The preacher said, standing taller, frowning. “This town is known far and wide for it’s brothel. You child protect the evils of this world and you shall be punished.”
“Says the preacher who stabbed a doctor, a healer...” Alex retorted, his eye passed over the other members of his ensemble. “Nice looking quire boys you got there. They play those well?” he nodded at the guns.
“This is a lawless town, can’t be too safe. Those are for our protection.”
“It’s only lawless to those who don’t wish to break a law.” He sighed. “Just because we haven’t hung anyone in the last year doesn’t mean that we are lawless, it means the people fear braking the law.”
“The devil entices it’s victims with the seven sins, and this town is the epitome of Lust... and where you have one sin the others soon follow.” The preacher stepped forward, standing a foot taller than Alex, but staring down at him, barely an inch away. “'But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death' Revelations 21:8... But before that must come the first death.”
Alex frowned at the man and stepped away. “I don’t have any proof that you hurt my doctor friend... that is the only reason you’re still alive.” He said. “But the second you put a toe out of line while your in this city...” Alexis’ Walker near enough flew out of it’s holster and, glistening in the light of the sun as it shone through the window, it’s barrel eyed the preachers forehead. Alex mimed shooting the preacher and turned to leave. he paused and turned back, pulling the cross shaped knife from his belt. “Incase you need more... Protection.” He held the blade, and showed it to the god squad before throwing it full pelt in the preachers direction. It missed by an inch and embedded itself in the wall behind him. Alex turned and walked out, holding his gun belt.
“What an interesting guy.” Jacob said, turning to the knife in the wall. he grabbed the handle and pulled it out. “I shall enjoy destroying him.”

Alex pushed the doors of the Cathouse open and stepped inside. Everyone around the room that wasn’t being dealt with by one of the buildings scantily clad employees looked up and nodded at him. Every girl looked over, smiled and gave him a wink. Alex tipped his hat and walked across to the bar where his deputies sat, talking to a couple of bar maids. “Morning, Anne, Bridget.” The Sheriff said, sitting beside tom and pulling on the front of his hat a little in greeting.
“Hey hon’ what can I get you?” one of the bar maids, a dark skinned brunette asked, smiling.
“I’ll take a water and can you tell My Ma I need to see her?” he asked, smiling.
