Chapter 1

Cassarah’s ship landed in its designated space in Balleil V’s most well used Port in the capitol city of ‘Dormal’. The city was once an extremely populated city made entirely of gold, but after the Verreck, a race of planet conquering aliens who were defeated by the Coalition of Aligned Planets, invaded it was left with only those who came after. The planets surface was stripped of all gold within a matter of weeks and a week later the planet was the target destination for every amateur treasure hunter in the galaxy, and then a week after that it was the target of nobody, except the stupid and the criminal.
Balleil V had become a planet for criminals and the worst treasure hunters in the galaxy. Criminals loved it because no authority bothered to go there, and the hunters loved it because they were under the false belief that they could find something that had been overlooked.

Cassarah stepped off of the ship after a moment of the ramp being lowered. Her eyes quickly focussed behind her goggles, getting used to the golden glow of the sun over the space port. She looked around, finding the port practically deserted. The few people standing around were a couple of pirates, a group of people who looked like treasure hunters, and from their faces Cassarah could only assume failed hunters, and a rather ominous looking person in full armour. By the looks of it, full Kerralic armour. His head turned in Ms. Tal’s direction. He stared for a moment, but eventually turned away. Cassarah shook her head and turned for the front desk.

“I need to rent a speeder.” She said, leaning against the bar. “It needs to be fast, capable and ready to outrun any bandits who want my treasure.”
A man behind the desk looked up and smiled. His third eye stared up at her while his other two remained on the papers he was just looking over.
“You have treasure now?” the man asked in strongly accented basic human.
“I… no, but I’m here for the hidden treasures.” Cassarah said, furrowing her brow at the man.
“Dimota!” he shouted, leaning back in his chair and looking over his shoulder. His third eye moved back to stare at the other man, previously concealed by a wall, while his other two moved up to eye the captain. “Mell tahk shtee acht hosh bakla ve de shoud.” The man in the back room let out a laugh and walked through the doorway he had been standing in.
“Miss,” He smiled, all three of his eyes were on her, while the other man had returned to his reading. “There no more treasure on Balleil IV. Goingk back to inner planets would be good me thingks, yes?”
Cassarah frowned. “Just because nobody else has found any treasure on this lump of rock doesn’t mean that I wont. It just means that theres more chance that nobody else has taken it.”
“And how do you intend to pay for car and fuel?” the man said.
“I’ll pay you when I come back with my treasure.”
The man sighed and shook his head. He placed a hand on his brow and looked back up, allowing the hand to slide down to his chin. “Listen. You nice girl, I do you favour. I will loan you the car, no petrol charge, but if you come back no treasure found, I get to keep your gun, and as precaution I look after gun here. That is 43rd century earth made, yes?”
Cassarah’s hand moved down to the pistol and then her eyes moved up to the man’s. How sure was she that she’d find something? Was it really worth her perfect pistol?
Cassarah unclipped her holster and pulled the gun out. “fine… but… won’t I need the protection?”
“From what?” the man enquired. “Nobody out here no more. Here, take keys. Second car from the end. I give you nice car.”
Cassarah sighed, grabbing the keys as she turned and walked to the exit. “Thanks” she called back sarcastically.

“Artificial Intelligence designation ‘Drake’ logged in and online.” Came drakes voice from the speakers inside the speeder. “Hello Ma’am. I see everything went smoothly. Although I do detect some weight loss, congratulations!”
“I had to hand over my gun you Nim-rod.” Cassarah growled at the vehicle.
“I do apologise, Miss. Where is our next destination?”
A map of the region appeared as a hologram within the passenger seat, where nobody was sitting. “Well… as I hear it, this is the most searched area… so that must be wrong.” She muttered to herself, pointing at one section of the map. “This area has the most wild creatures, and I have no gun, so… no. and this area… yeah, very few people have searched there.”
“Ma’am, I hate to point out an issue with your plan-”
“A lie but go on.”
“- but that area is a volcano.”
“What better place to hide an icon of extreme sentimental, religious and monetary values?” Cassarah questioned.
“A temple perhaps? A living room? A place where one may worship safely and not surrounded by molten Lava, or other dangerous substances?”
“Besides all of them!”
“Your courage ceases to amaze, ma’am.” The voice said, as honest sounding as ever as the vehicle began moving towards its destination.
