“She’s a genetically built soldier, trained and corrupted into obeying a master. Then she was sold to him.” I explained, skipping over the detail that she was given a chance to leave but didn’t take it. “I saved her life and she showed me... well she swore not to reveal anything about me. she wants out she just doesn't realise it. The only way for her to get out is if someone beats her master and wins her.”
“Ugh...” Orion muttered. “This sounds like one of those Saturday morning cartoon shows...”
“We’re super heroes... it might as well be.” I joked, stepping forward, towards the base.
“Well I’ll help you out with this, Flygirl, but when it blows up in your face and she turns out not to have joined you don’t tell me I didn’t tell you so.” He agreed, pulling a non-lethal disc firing device from his belt and following me to the main doors.
“Why is it you always think up nicknames for my hero names?”
“Its my thing, like your thing is to change your identity every couple of months... and I’m too lazy to say the full names.”
“You changed Silva to Silly Billy.” I retorted.
“That was just to see your expression every time I said it though.” He smiled.
“I wore a helmet, pretty boy.” I raised my hand and slammed it into the door three times, stepped back, raised my hand towards the door and waited for my sensors to read movement behind the door.
A couple of seconds passed and then I fired, the green energy blast sent the doors flying into a huge warehouse, knocking a number of thugs to the floor as Orion sped in ahead of me. I wasn’t worried about him, he had heightened agility, heightened strength, heightened senses and an over developed sarcasm gland. Most of the time I believe that the only thing he’d ever miss about the super life if he got hit was the opportunities it gave him to use the sarcasm.
He lowered my hand and headed in after him, switching systems with a couple of quick eye movements to concussion based hand guns.
I entered the room, quickly spying the crystal blade slashing away at the scenery to make things that hit heads, and then a couple of guys lining up to take shots at me. I raised my hands in pistol positions and, one by one, took out the line up, dodging and weaving around the bullets as they loosed them from their clips.
I spun around as the last hit a wall and instantly raised my arms to block as a huge piece of debris flew in my direction.
Nothing happened. I looked up to find the Dark red clad hunter standing over me with his sword on his shoulder and the two pieces of metal lying discarded upon the floor a couple of feet behind me.
“I'd make fun of you for that but I kind of threw it at you.” He said, smiling.
“Thanks.” I said, grudgingly, turning about the room to find any more enemies. “we done here?”
“Yup.” Orion confirmed, turning to look at what looked like a bank vault. “I can smell them in there.”
“Seriously... if we ever date again you’re gonna be wearing nose plugs whenever I get out of the suit. It’s sweaty in here.”
“I didn’t want to say anything, but since you brought it up-”
“No, we’re not talking about this.” I said, stomping off towards the vault door. I smirked under the mask as I looked up at the camera. The camera died instantly as I released a low frequency pulse, knocking out the equipment. “You might want to stand back a bit, Onion boy.”
“Thats the lamest insult I’ve heard for my name since... since... thats the lamest insult I’ve ever heard for my name.” Orion jibed, I frowned and placed my hands on the vault door, Cold began to run through into the metal. quickly followed by heat, I repeated. over and over again. for a good twenty minutes I stood there, eventually, after all that time the door creaked, and then cracked. I smiled, stepped back and raised both hands. a moment passed as energy built up in my hands and then... the door flew off it’s hinges... towards me. My blast hit the door, causing it to blow into several pieces.
“You weren’t kidding about I should back up, huh?” Orion said, eyes wide.
“That wasn’t me.” I replied, getting ready for whatever was coming through that door.
