Chapter 4

I swing my fist at Dex, he ducks under it and brings his own up into my gut. He’s surprisingly quick and far too strong. It really isn’t fair, I can be one or the other but him... also... ow.
He grabs my arm as I fly upwards from the force of his punch and swings me around. He releases me, sending me soaring towards the outside wall. A flashing indicator tells me I’m about to hit something, as if I didn’t already know.
Quickly pressing my thumbs together I flare my back and boots into life and stop before hitting the wall. I move my eyes quickly, switching modes to rapid fire. Dex is obviously stronger than me up close, but how about at a distance?
I raise my hands and aim them out at Dex, fingers locking in place as if they were guns. I fire off round after round of green energy, hitting him for the most part as he charges towards me. I lower one hand and take out one of his legs. He falls on his face and skids to a hold. I blast off and moved to the other side of the room, he was too close.
“You wanna play with guns, girly?” he asks, pulling his arm around to face me. I frown and curse as I see it has what looks like an automatic pulse rifle stuck to it. The gun pops up on my HUD with various pieces of intelligence. Yup its a pulse rifle. “We can play girly.”
He fires, forcing me to move. The rifles energy blast explodes in the wall, as I flick across to speed mode again. I race towards Dex, weaving around his blasts, hoping that he has to switch modes to hit me with the same amount of force.
I fly low under his reticule and spy something on the floor. Orion’s crystal sword, resting inches from Dex’s feet. If that’s not fate I don’t know what is.
Quickly I curved around the kingpin and grabbed up the sword. I spun around in the air, ready to deal an even more dangerous blow.
And SMACK! I’m flying into the wall next to Orion and Adria. “That could have gone better.” I mutter, forcing myself to my feet and heading back into the fight.
“All right Dex.” I growl, noting the timer ticking gown to twelve minutes. “Come On!” I blast forwards, deciding to try yet another tactic, closing in on him I cause my gauntlets to release more coolant.
He swings a punch, which I duck under. I press my gauntlets to his wrist, and after a very short moment, release. Frost is clinging to him. He takes another swing at me, trying to sweep under my feet. I light my boots up, scorching his leg. As I spin around I slammed my fist into his arm, crushing the numbed hand and the electronics in the suit.
He yells in pain and punches straight into my gut. Stupid momentary celebration. I skid back and look up, grinning a little through the pain. I had disabled one hand at least, even if it had given me possible internal injuries and, according to my HUD, a dent in my abdominal armour plating.
I run forwards again, blasting off with my back, and narrowly evading a blast from his pulse rifle. I spin in the air and kick him in the side. he grabs my leg with his working arm and grins through his see-through helmet at me. I grin back and grab his head, freezing that as well.
He throws me hard, and I hit the wall, again, next to Orion and Adria... again. “Sonova...” I mutter as I get back up. He pulls off his helmet and throws it away.
“Three minutes little girl.” he growls, grinning. “How time flies when your having fun.”
My eyes widen, I look up at the time, he’s right. I look back at Orion and frown. It’s now or never time.
My boots flare up and I soar towards Dex, he swings a fist, but misses, by quite a ways. I punch him in the side and then up into his exposed jaw. He stumbles back a little. “I’m sorry Dex, did I mess up your targeting systems?” she grinned, raising a gun shaped hand and blasting at the man’s chest, not wanting to kill him too much.
He was going to lose the fight and then he was going to prison. I leapt forwards, my fist in the air, ready to pound his face into the- ow. He grabs me by the throat and begins to squeeze. It’s fine, my suit is sturdy, one of the sturdiest, it’s take a hell of a lot of hydraulic pressure to cause- Oh you’re kidding me. My HUD flares up with hull pressure warnings.
I grab his wrist and super cool it. The metal begins to creak and crack. I wait a little longer, his grip tightens. I can feel metal on the side of my neck. Finally I press my feet against his chest and light my boots up, scorching his chest and sending my flying away, ripping the hand off of the tech suit and leaving a cold, shivering fleshy one where it had been.
